What is a Wells Fargo Fake Text scam?

Just as the name implies, this is when you receive a fake text message from a scammer posing as Wells Fargo. Regardless of what you reply, the scammer will explain to you that they will soon contact you via phone to discuss the charge. Once they call you, they will attempt to get your information and/or defraud your finances.

How can you stay safe?

If you receive an unsolicited message like this, you should assume it is scam. However, if you do have a Wells Fargo bank account and you have text alerts on, call the number on the back of your card. Do not under any circumstance call the scammer nor any number they provide.
